Chapter-1: Tissues And Types Of Tissues
Introduction:
The higher plants have highly complex bodies made up of different types of cells. All cells are made up of different types of cells. All cells are of same origin but afterwards they get differentiated into different types of cells. Cells of similar shape and size constitute a group which perform diverse functions. A group of cells performing a particular function is collectively called as tissue. A tissue may be defined as “a group of similar or dissimilar cells having common origin and performing a specific function”.
Chapter Analysis:
Questions from Tissues have appeared frequently in the question papers. Except for the year 2017, 2015 and 2013, every year had at least one question appearing from this chapter. A total of 18 questions have been asked from this chapter in the last 11 years, with the last year holding 3 questions. Thus, we can conclude that this is a medium weightage chapter and it will be wise to expect atleast 1 question from this chapter in the coming papers.
The following bar-graph exhibits the number of questions from Tissues in the question paper:

Year | 2019 | 2018 | 2017 | 2016 | 2015 | 2014 | 2013 | 2012 | 2011 | 2010 | 2009 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Number | 4 | 1 | 3 | 3 | 0 | 2 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 3 |
The important topics to cover from this chapter are:
• Animal Tissues
• Morphology
• Anatomy and Functions of Different Systems
• Anatomy and functions of Cockroach, Frog and Earthworms.
A brief analysis of the different topics of the chapter is given below:
COCKROACH
Analysis: A total of 5 questions have appeared from this topic in the past 11 years. The last three papers have had no questions at all from this particular topic. 2015 had 2 questions, while 2016, 2013, 2011 had 1 question each. All the other year had no question from this chapter. Seeing the past trend, we cannot expect more than 1 question at most from this chapter.
The below given graph illustrates the analysis given above:

Year | 2019 | 2018 | 2017 | 2016 | 2015 | 2014 | 2013 | 2012 | 2011 | 2010 | 2009 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Questions | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 2 | 1 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
FROG
Analysis: Only 4 questions have been asked in the past 11 years from this chapter with the last question appearing in the 2017 paper. Last two years saw no question being asked from this topic. 2012 had 2 and 2011 had 1 being asked. The other years had none. So, we must not be expecting much from this chapter, one question at max.
The below given graph illustrates the above-mentioned analysis:

Year | 2019 | 2018 | 2017 | 2016 | 2015 | 2014 | 2013 | 2012 | 2011 | 2010 | 2009 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Questions | 0 | 0 | 1 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 0 |
EARTHWORM
Analysis: The last 8 years have been a drought for the chapter of Earthworm as no questions have been asked from the topic. The last time the question a question was asked was way down in 2011 when 1 question was picked from this topic. Only 3 questions have been asked from this chapter in the past 10 years. So, expecting nothing extraordinary in the coming years, we should not think of more than 1 question to come from this chapter.
The below mentioned graph illustrates the above-mentioned analysis:

Year | 2019 | 2018 | 2017 | 2016 | 2015 | 2014 | 2013 | 2012 | 2011 | 2010 | 2019 |
